Day 1: Kigali to Volcanoes National Park (Musanze)
8:00am pick up from Kigali airport/hotel. Drive 2.5 hours (116km) to Musanze – gateway to Volcanoes National Park. En route optional visit Kigali Genocide Memorial and twin lakes viewpoint. Arrive 1pm check-in at Da Vinci Lodge (mid-range) or Virunga Lodge (luxury). Afternoon visit Iby'Iwacu Cultural Village – traditional dance, banana beer making, local homestead. Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park and Return to Kigali
5:30am early breakfast. 6:15am transfer to Kinigi Park Headquarters for 7am briefing. Rangers assign you to 1 of 12 habituated gorilla families. Max 8 trekkers per family. 8:00am start trek in bamboo forest – trek takes 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on gorilla location. Once found, spend 1 hour observing silverback, mothers, infants. Take photos, get trekking certificate. 12:00pm return to Kinigi, lunch in Musanze. 1:30pm drive back to Kigali – 2.5 hours. Drop at Kigali airport/hotel by 5pm for evening flight.
