Encounter with the endangered Gorillas in Mgahinga. The park takes its name from “Gahinga” – the local word for the piles of volcanic stones cleared from farmland at the foot of the volcanoes. Mgahinga’s most striking features are its three conical, extinct volcanoes, part of the spectacular Virunga Range that lies along the border region of Uganda, Congo, and Rwanda. Mgahinga forms part of the much larger Virunga Conservation Area which includes adjacent parks in these countries.

Semu Gorilla Safaris and Tours assigned- English speaking driver guide will receive you on arrival at Kigali Airport, either at the airport or hotel. You will do a city tour in Kigali and then leave the lively capital and transfer and cross the border to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, Uganda. Overnight at Travelers Rest Hotel. Early morning breakfast and continue to the rangers’ post at 7am where you will receive a briefing from a ranger guide on the do's and don’ts during gorilla trekking. Thereafter, you will enter the gorilla sanctuary for your encounter and lifetime experience. The time taken and the terrain vary with the movements of these great primates. Once you have located a gorilla group, you will be allowed an hour in their presence. The thrill of spending time observing these gentle but endangered giants is unforgettable.
