This 7-Day Private Tour in Rwanda & Uganda - Safari in Africa is led by Semu Gorilla Safaris and Tours assigned- English speaking driver guide using a private 4WD vehicle, focusing purely on the stunning Volcanoes National Park. You'll be tracking agile golden monkeys and famous mountain gorillas in Bwindi National Park where more than half of the world's population are inhabitants and wildlife tours in Queen Elizabeth and Lake Mburo National Parks. Almost all of the animal species are present in Uganda.
Semu Gorilla Safaris and Tours assigned- English speaking driver guide will receive you on arrival at Kigali Airport, either at the airport or hotel. You will do a city tour in Kigali and then leave the lively capital. You will drive north-west through lush hills and bustling market towns for approximately two and half hours, to the stunning Volcanoes National Park.

The golden monkeys' trekking excursion takes place in Volcanoes National Park at 7:00 am, the same time as the gorilla trekking. These rare monkey species are also listed as endangered. Volcanoes National Park has habituated groups that are available for trekking by visitors. The exercise starts with a short briefing from the park ranger at the RDB office. Thereafter, you will proceed to trek the golden monkeys through the rainforest of the Volcanoes National Park.
You will return to the accommodation for rest and lunch. After lunch, you will proceed to the Cyanika border post. From Cyanika. You'll cross the border into Uganda and stay overnight at a property close to Bwindi National Park, from where you will undertake the gorilla trekking the next day.

After breakfast, continue to the rangers’ post where you will receive a briefing from a ranger guide on the do's and don’t's during gorilla trekking. Thereafter, you will enter the gorilla sanctuary for your adventure and encounter. The beauty of this rainforest is spectacular! The area offers a dramatic, steeply forested landscape and is incredibly dense but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists. The time taken and the terrain varies with the movements of these great primates. Once you have located a gorilla group, you will be allowed an hour in their presence. The thrill of spending time observing these gentle but endangered giants, is unforgettable. Return to the accommodation, and take some rest after a strenuous day. (extra cost): In case you finished early and the body is willing to go out again, you can request your guide to arrange some activity

After breakfast, drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, home to elephants, lions, hippos, buffalo and baboons. Participate in game drives this afternoon and the next day. While exploring, watch above for tree-climbing lions, a sight rarely seen anywhere else in Africa. You may also see some of Uganda’s largest elephant herds. Your overnight stay is at Bush Lodge (Midrange).
Optional: If interested, you may consider a late afternoon-to-evening game drive/safari in the Kasenyi plains.

You will have an early morning breakfast. You will proceed for a morning game drive/safari in the Kasenyi plains and be on the lookout for Cape buffalos, herds of elephants, as well as lions and leopards (though hard to spot), among others. You will return to the accommodation for some rest time and lunch. After lunch, you will go for a 2-hour boat trip on the Kazinga Channel that connects Lakes George and Edward. During the trip, the sight of wildlife, including school of hippos, elephants, and crocodiles among others, will fascinate you. You will also see many varieties of birds on the water shores.
Optional (no cost): If interested, you may go for a brief late afternoon-to-evening game viewing and then return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

You will wake up early, have breakfast, and drive out to the nearby Kalinzu Forest Reserve. The forest is home to habituated chimpanzees plus other primates including baboons, monkeys, and also various bird species. Today, you will spend the early part of the day tracking chimpanzees. Thereafter, you will transfer to Lake Mburo National Park via Mbarara city. Once in Mburo, you can choose to check in and just relax, or check in and go for a game drive.
Optional (extra cost): If interested, you can consider the night game drive to see the nocturnal wildlife.

You will enjoy your early breakfast and proceed for the Mburo Park morning horse safari in the presence of an armed Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger-guide. On this early morning guided walk, you will have the opportunity to encounter at close range zebras, giraffes, elands, topis and other antelopes, and Cape buffalos among others. You will take the trail to the top of the hills to see Lake Mburo and beyond. Thereafter, you will return to the accommodation for checkout and then hit the road to Entebbe Airport (5:00 pm or later). We hope to see you (or any referral) on your next visit.
