Border Katuna takes 45 mins. If your international flight is from Entebbe, we have Option 2 fly back 1 hour ($320-390) or Option 3 drive back 8-9 hrs included in $2100.
4. How difficult is the 4-hour habituation trek? Do I need a porter?
Moderate to strenuous – you trek 1-3 hours to find gorillas, then 4 hours with them moving in jungle, then 1-2 hours back. Total 6-8 hours jungle. Need fitness, waterproof boots, garden gloves. Porter $15 highly recommended – carries your bag, helps you on steep slopes, supports local community. We arrange at Rushaga HQ at 6:30 AM briefing.
5. When is the best time to do gorilla habituation? When to book permits?
Habituation runs year-round. Best is dry season June-Sept and Dec-Feb – less mud, easier trek, better photos. Low season March-May and Oct-Nov cheaper lodges but more rain.
